When a graffiti artist spray paints a wall, it's often considered to be vandalism. So what is it considered when a graffiti artwork is surreptitiously removed from a wall to be sold at auction? In this case, thievery.
The original Banksy mural was located at Poundland on Whymark Avenue in London. Titled 'Slave Labour,' the artwork showed a young boy at a sewing machine laboring away. The work was going to be auctioned at Fine Art Auctions Miami for a high 'estimated price of 500,000 GBP.'
However, perhaps due to public outcry, the Banksy was removed from auction.
