The Austin Museum of Art AMOA-Arthouse in Austin, Texas consists of two sites: The Jones Center and the Laguna Gloria. The Jones Center for Contemporary Art opened in 1998. The Laguna Gloria Art Museum was created in 1961.
AMOA-Arthouse exhibits contemporary art by both emerging and mid-career artists. Works such as paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints, photographs, and installation art are displayed.
According to the Museum's website: "On November 1, 2011, Austin Museum of Art (AMOA) and Arthouse at the Jones Center (Arthouse) merged into a single museum."
"AMOA and Arthouse at the Jones Center united to create a new entity to serve our diverse community better, ensure financial stability for future generations, and increase capacity to present innovative and engaging programs and exhibitions at both the Jones Center and AMOA’s ancestral home, Laguna Gloria."
"Just as small businesses and corporations sometimes merge to form a single, stronger entity, nonprofit arts organizations are increasingly joining forces. The boards of both institutions have shown foresight in orchestrating the integration of AMOA and Arthouse."
"The resulting combined entity — with reinvigorated energy and a new story to tell — will strive to engage both existing and new segments of the community in Austin, Central Texas, and beyond."
The Museum's mission according to their website: "The museum provides rich environments for a wide range of audiences to investigate and experience excellence in modern and contemporary art. The museum accomplishes this through innovative exhibitions, education, interpretative programs and direct access to the creative process."
Austin Museum of Art AMOA-Arthouse has two locations: The Jones Center and Laguna Gloria.

Museum's Conservation Department:
Art conservation is the practice of researching, analyzing, and preserving or restoring artwork for future generations.
Famed Artworks in Collection:
The AMOA-Arthouse does not make acquisitions of artworks like a traditional art museum does. Instead it creates "commissions, exhibitions, and public programs" bringing contemporary art and culture to the public.
The Art School at Laguna Gloria offers art classes for all ages: toddlers to adults, and in all media: painting, photography, ceramics, jewelry, etc.
